A Quick Review of the G&G ARP9 the best airsoft gun

Aug 24th 2021

The ARP9 is only a few years old, but when it was released it was an instant hit. It has pretty much everything users love about the equally-infamous G&G CM16 Raider, and then some other awesome features that make it even cooler.

So should you add one to your armory, or even replace your main AEG with a G&G ARP9? Well, let’s take a look at what this tiny AEG with a bigattitude has to offer you.

Thoughts: This Is a Tough, Capable Airsoft Gun

The first thing you’ll notice about the ARP9 is that it has a very memorable silhouette and is extremely compact. The naked rifle weighs 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and comes in at only 20-23.2 inches in length, depending on the adjustment of the stock, which is a PDW style adjustable model.

It features a polymer 9mm style carbine receiver and boasts a Version 2, full metal, fully upgradeable gearbox and a long type motor. It is capable of semi and fully automatic modes of fire and comes with a single 300 round magazine, although it is compatible with other G&G 9mm mags.

Without making any modifications, this AEG is capable of producing muzzle velocities 330 and 350 FPS with .20g, 6mm BBs. It’s 6.03mm tight-bore barrel preserves both accuracy and velocity, and the adjustable hop up featured on the platform enables precise adjustments to trajectory that can significantly improve both accuracy and range.

It also comes equipped with a 5 inch M-LOK handguard that is compatible with a wide range of accessories. Whether you feel the need to trick this thing out with a light, a laser or just a red dot sight, there is plenty of room - plenty.

The quality is evident from the moment you first lay eyes on the gun and will continue to sink in after you pick one up. For such a small AEG, it feels solid and balances beautifully. It’s the type of AEG that handles nearly with the agility of a pistol while retaining the steadiness of a rifle with an adjustable stock, because, well, it is.

It will make you rethink your entire approach to CQB.

This AEG Will Make You Rethink Your Approach to CQB

CQB encounters are harrowing, especially when they are unexpected engagements. It could be dark, you may not be able to hear your teammates or you may become confused about the positions both you and the enemy occupy. Things move frightfully fast, complicating the disorienting nature of the setting.

Your most important weapon is your wit, and that’s what will preserve you in CQB - but a capable AEG never hurts, and the ARP9 comes closer to perfection than any other AEG, especially in its price class, that we’ve ever seen.

It is both dense and maneuverable. It handles almost like an airsoft pistol but provides you with a stable platform to deliver rapid, on-target shots at a high rate of fire. And, of course, we can’t gloss over the fact that it has a much greater capacity than most airsoft pistols.

Once you experience the natural responsiveness of this compact AEG platform, you’ll want to carry two of these instead of a bigger AEG and a GBB pistol. It’s just that responsive, extremely compact, and lightweight.

Short Barrel, No Shortage of Room for Attachments

The defining feature of the ARP9 is its short barrel, which makes it much lighter, quicker, and adaptable to CQB encounters. However, while that shorter barrel does adversely impact the length of the handguard, there is still tons of room for M-LOK accessories.

You might actually be surprised how far 5 inches of handguard space really carries. Think of it this way. You can’t really place two optics in succession along one portion of a rail. That limits you to one attachment per face of rail, depending on how you intend to use them, and on the ARP9, there is plenty of room.

In short, the short barrel does not create a shortage of room for attachments.

Closing Thoughts: It Has Plenty of Room for Personalization, but Has Plenty of Personality to Begin with

Just looking at a listing, you'll realize the ARP9 is a completely different breed of AEG. Though it in some ways resembles a traditional M4 type rifle like the other CM16 series of AEGs, the ARP9 retains a great deal of unique traits. It has plenty of personality to begin with, to be sure, but there are so many opportunities for improvement.
