The Ultimate [Short] Guide to Essential Airsoft Attachments
Jul 20th 2021
Every year, new airsoft attachments and tactical airsoft gear come out, and everyone from the neophytes to the seasoned vets to the gearheads in between is in a hot scramble to get the hottest of them. Some prove more practical than others - but there are classic categories of airsoft gun accessories that just don’t go out of style. They’re too practical.
If you want to build the ultimate airsoft masterpiece, the following airsoft attachments will help you make it happen. Consider your scenario, buy carefully, read reviews, and by all means call us. We’ll provide recommendations if needed.
1.Lights
Lights are nearly a must-have for CQB infantry players. In some ways, they are the single most practical airsoft attachment for CQB encounters.
Mount a light somewhere on the handguard of your AEG and you will have two advantages in a chance encounter. One is that you will be able to see what’s going on in front of you, and sometimes CQB involves close, dark quarters. The other is that you might be able to startle your opponents, giving you a slight edge and a few seconds to make an offensive move.
2.Laser sights
Laser sights are also excellent airsoft attachments and are useful not only for CQB encounters but also for reflex shooting of all sorts. If you enact a hasty mount or your airsoft gun is not shouldered correctly, you won’t be able to line up your sights effectively. Sometimes you need to literally point and shoot, for which even reflex sights like red dots will leave you at a disadvantage.
Laser sights, by contrast, allow for significantly faster target acquisition and entirely liberate you from the need to line up sights - plus, they work in the dark.
3.Scopes
For players that are used to engaging from afar, especially those that require accuracy, scopes are some of the most useful airsoft attachments of all. Many of them are shockproof, waterproof, and have colored, even illuminated reticles for use in low light conditions. Some even offer variable magnification so you can get a better look at your target.
Scopes are not just useful for shooting. They’re also useful for silent reconnaissance, for which, as a sniper, you may be responsible for offering to your team.
4.Bipods
Bipods are also useful for affording players a stable shooting surface for connecting shots at greater distances. Let’s be real - some intrepid, enterprising players will use their forearms or their packs as shooting surfaces, but these pale in comparison to a good folding bipod. A good shooting rest will adapt to you, but you will adapt to an improvised one.
5.Grips
Does your AEG leave something to be desired? Perhaps it doesn’t fit you as nicely as it should? Possibly the issue is one of balance. When you shoulder your AEG, do you reach forward with your non-dominant, supportive hand as if to reach for additional support along the handguard that is simply not there?
With a tactical airsoft rifle and plenty of rail space, this issue is easy to correct. Just throw a rail-mounted vertical grip on the bottom of your handguard and you’ll enjoy greater maneuverability and accuracy, plus faster handling. Get a folding model and it’ll be out of the way when you don’t need it.
6.Rail adapters
Rail adapters might not be exciting airsoft attachments (because they’re sort of actually boring) but they do allow you to add other, more exciting attachments and accessories to your airsoft gun, so they’re worth a mention. If you’re out of rail space or want to add an accessory that isn’t compatible with your current rail system, set yourself up with an adapter.
7.Airsoft tracer units
Airsoft tracers units are some of the coolest airsoft attachments the game has seen for a long time. Basically, tracer units can be used with tracer BBs to produce an effect similar to an incendiary round, so you can see where your trajectory is headed and don’t need to rely solely on your optics or sights for shot placement.
They’re practical because they can enable you to shoot reflexively as well as in the dark, and there also might be a psychological element involved if enemy combatants can literally see where your shots are landing, but let’s get serious. Even if it wasn’t for these traits, tracer units are just so cool.
