SELECTOR PLATES
Airsoft Selector Plates | Fire Mode Control for Every Gearbox Version
The selector plate is the internal part that translates your external fire mode lever into an actual electrical or mechanical result, safe, semi, or full-auto. When it wears or warps, your selector switch stops meaning what it says. We carry airsoft selector plates across Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes.
How an Airsoft Selector Plate Works
The selector plate is a small sliding part on the gearbox that physically moves when you turn your external selector switch. Depending on position, it completes or breaks electrical circuits, or interacts directly with your trigger's microswitch or optical sensor, to control which fire mode is active. In semi-auto, the plate also pushes the cut-off lever to stop the gear cycle after exactly one shot, and on safe, it blocks the trigger contact entirely.
Airsoft Version 2 vs. Version 3 Selector Plates
Version 2 selector plates fit M4, M16, MP5, and SCAR-pattern gearboxes, though exact specs can differ slightly by manufacturer, some brands require brand-specific or lightly modified plates rather than a universal V2 fit. Version 3 plates fit AK and G36-pattern gearboxes and use a different shape and mounting style entirely from V2, so the two are not interchangeable.
Airsoft Selector Plate Materials
High-voltage, high-amp setups generate more heat at the plate's contact points than a stock lower-voltage build. Reinforced polymer or metal selector plates built to resist melting or warping under that heat are worth prioritizing on any build running an upgraded battery or high-torque motor.
Airsoft Selector Plates for Optical Trigger Systems
Modern optical trigger setups don't rely on physical metal contact tabs the way traditional mechanical systems do. These often require a flush selector plate face, or specialized reflective stickers, rather than the raised contact tabs a standard mechanical MOSFET or stock trigger system uses. Confirm your trigger system type before ordering a plate to make sure it's built for the right contact style.
What to Look for in an Airsoft Selector Plate
A few details determine whether a replacement plate restores clean fire mode function.
Gearbox Version
Confirm V2 or V3 before ordering, and check for brand-specific spec differences within V2 if your gun is a specific manufacturer known to deviate from standard.
Heat Resistance
If you're running a high-voltage battery or high-torque motor, prioritize a reinforced or anti-heat plate over a stock-spec polymer part.
Trigger System Compatibility
Confirm whether your gun uses standard mechanical contacts, a microswitch, or an optical system before ordering, since the required plate face differs between them.
Airsoft Selector Plate FAQ
Why does my selector switch not match how the gun fires?
A worn or warped selector plate is a common cause, since it's the internal part that translates the external lever position into the correct electrical or mechanical result.
Are V2 and V3 selector plates interchangeable?
No. They use different shapes and mounting styles and are built for different gearbox platforms entirely.
Do I need a heat-resistant selector plate?
If you're running a high-voltage battery or high-torque motor, yes. Standard plates are more prone to melting or warping under that added electrical load.
What plate do I need for an optical trigger system?
A flush-faced plate or one built for reflective stickers rather than raised metal contact tabs, since optical systems read light or a sensor rather than physical metal-to-metal contact.
Are all Version 2 selector plates identical?
Not always. Some manufacturers use brand-specific or slightly modified V2 specs, so confirm exact compatibility rather than assuming a universal V2 fit.
