Full-Face vs. Bump Helmets: Which Do You Need

Bump helmets cover the top and sides of your head and stay light, which is why most CQB and speed-focused players run one. A full-face or full coverage helmet adds more protection around the back of the head and ears, at the cost of extra weight. If you're already running a face mask, a bump helmet paired with it usually covers what a full-face helmet would on its own, without doubling up on weight.

Building Your Helmet Setup With a Mask or Goggles

Your helmet, mask, and eye protection all have to fit together, not just fit your head. A full-face mask needs a helmet with enough clearance at the jaw and ears, and goggles need a helmet with room for the strap to sit flat without bunching.
