Highlighting Some Top Picks from Umbrella Armory

Aug 17th 2020

Umbrella Armory is a remarkable company that manages an impressive portfolio of brands in airsoft. Many of their brands, including OCAW, Krytac, G&G, and Elite Force represent some of the most reputable brands in the sport, loved by players for their rugged construction, quality, dependable internals, and reliable performance.

Umbrella Armory has humble beginnings and was founded by a tinkerer who enjoyed working on his airsoft guns. That may be a part of the reason that today Umbrella’s products are so well defined by high-performance, customizability, and practicality as well. So many products are produced, in any market, not just in airsoft, that seem to have been designed by someone that would never actually use them. Umbrella Armory stands apart from this; their airsoft guns, including many AEGs and pistols, are ergonomic, tough, reliable, and practical. Use one and you won’t need any more convincing.

Check out some of these picks from our collection of Umbrella’s brands if you’re looking for something new to add to your collection, and if you have any questions, give our team a call.

CQB

Close Quarters Battling, otherwise known as CQB, is not so much a style of play so much as it is a series of conditions that might befall you during a match. For example, consider a situation in which you might be working through a compound or an inside space with limited visibility; if you come upon opponents or they come upon you, you have the makings of CQB.

CQB, moreover, can be fast-paced, stressful, and unpredictable. This is no place for spring action airsoft pistols and bolt-action airsoft rifles. It’s also no place for heavy platforms, or rifles with exceedingly long barrels, no matter how accurate or fast they are. CQB requires fast, maneuverable platforms that fire fast, cycle reliably, and are intuitive to mount and shoot. If you need an AEG for CQB encounters, check some of these following options from Umbrella Armory .

G&G CM16 ARP9 SMG AEG

Some players would tell you that this is the ultimate CQB AEG platform, and we wouldn’t be too inclined to argue with them. There are other excellent platforms out there, but this one has a ton of features that make it really suitable for intense, competitive, close-quarters battles.

Right out of the gate you’ll probably notice the extended magazine and the apparent lack of barrel. This thing is a modular rifle that handles almost like a pistol but comes with plenty of capacity to set that off. It’s fast, tough, light, and maneuverable. It can also accept a ton of attachments and comes with a short section of quad rail in addition to the Pic rail that runs almost the entire length of the top of the receiver.

It comes with a 300 round hi-cap magazine that pairs the capacity and power (it can reach 340 FPS) of an AEG with dimensions that barely extend beyond those of some airsoft pistols. It also has flip-up iron sights that you can put into action right quick, an adjustable stock, and an adjustable hop-up system. It also gives you the ability to shoot three-round bursts like some actual platforms. To put it lightly and concisely, this is an excellent AEG for CQB - we could write volumes more on it, but take our word for it or try one out when you get the chance and you won’t be disappointed.

G&G CM16 Raider 2.0 SBR AEG

The ARP9 might have made some serious waves for its performance and suite of features, but we just couldn’t publish a list of Umbrella Armory highlights without including a respectable entry on an example of a G&G CM16 Raider. This is one of the most popular AEGs on the market right now and it has been for a while, specifically for the balance between its price and performance.

The G&G CM16 Raider that we chose above is an improvement over the original CM16, with enhancements made to the receiver and the grip. This version also has an ambidextrous mag release and an M-Lok handguard.

Like the original CM16, it has an adjustable stock, plenty of room for mounting accessories, and comes with a hi-cap mag and offers fair power. More importantly, it has a version 2 all-metal and fully upgradeable gearbox that will continue to offer high performance even under hot pressure.

This is an effective and ergonomic platform for CQB, with plenty of power and capacity for most situations, but what players really love about it is the price. There are few other AEGs on the market that offer this level of value at a comparable price, particularly with respect to the internals. If you need a hard-hitting, performance-delivering AEG for CQB - at a great price - this is probably it.

Long Range

Most of the time, you’re going to see airsoft guns styled after mounted machine guns or those requiring crews to be listed under high-performers in the long-range category. At the same time, though for different purposes, you might also see bolt-action sniper rifles listed for long-range performance. In truth, some of the fastest, flattest shooting, most accurate airsoft guns in the game today are bolt-actuated rifle platforms.

Instead of these, we’d like to propose the following model for a mix of good reasoning between these two options.

G&G CM16 LMG AEG

At first glance, if you aren’t familiar with this rifle, you might be wondering why we aren’t proposing this as a great AEG for CQB. We definitely could, but this rifle has a couple of features that suit it just as well to the long game, specifically for covering a large swath of ground with a near-constant rate of heavy fire. Don’t get us wrong, this would be an amazing AEG for CQB, but hear our argument for its use in the long game.

Specifically, this platform can be used in place of an airsoft machine gun to cover a large piece of territory against opposing movement. It is capable of reaching decently high muzzle velocities of up to 375 FPS and can reach out over long distances, but the real boon here is the fact that it comes with a 2500 round magazine. That means that with this AEG you can canvas large territories - usually, you would only be able to do that with airsoft machine guns.

Granted, some of these have magazine capacities of 4000 or more, but this airsoft gun is much lighter and more modular than many of them. It has an adjustable stock hop-up and can accept a number of high-powered optics on the rail over the receiver, making it a great middle-ground option.

Side Arms

A sidearm is just that - an aside to your main platform. Its purpose is to support, rather than guide or dictate an engagement. If you become separated from your AEG or you run out of ammo in a critical moment, then you could rely on your sidearm. At the same time, there are situations in which it would just make more sense to proceed with an airsoft pistol than with a rifle. Either way, you don’t want to be without the additional layer of protection that a sidearm can afford during a match. Check out some of these sidearms from Umbrella that you can find right here at MiR Tactical.

Elite Force Glock 19x Green Gas Blowback Pistol

Glock airsoft replicas are extremely popular, and some of them are very well made, offering reliable, unflinching performance, just like the Glocks after which they are modeled. This Glock 19 replica from Elite Force is one of our finer examples and offers you plenty of performance-enhancing features at a great price.

One of the first things to consider in a sidearm is how easily it can be carried or concealed, and like real Glocks, this thing is light, balanced, easy to handle, and easy to carry and conceal. It would make a perfect addition to your main AEG platform and can deliver under pressure.

On that note, though it only comes with a 23 round mag, it can reach muzzle velocities of nearly 300 FPS and is fast and smooth firing. You wouldn’t want to go into territory held by the opposing team, but then again, you wouldn’t really want to go without it, would you?

Elite Force Walther PPS M2 CO2 GBB Pistol

This is another great little airsoft pistol that you could carry with you confidently as a sidearm to back up your AEG, or whatever else you make a habit of carrying. This thing is tough and small, and if you are tight on what you can carry or how much weight you can bear, this might be the airsoft pistol to make your own.

It’s light, fast and maneuverable, all of which you should prioritize in an accessory sidearm, and that hardly comes at a cost. It holds slightly fewer BBs in the mag than the above model, but it’s also smaller. And, for what it’s worth, this airsoft pistol comes with a hex tool integrated into the grip. Not that you should buy it for that reason alone, but a hex tool can save your game if you need to make field repairs, especially on your main arm.

Don’t Forget Attachments and Accessories

Umbrella Armory may be highly regarded for the fact that it maintains a ton of brands in which collection you can find some of the most popular airsoft guns in play today, but they also produce a lot of parts. For example, you can get gearboxes, drive trains, batteries, magazines, and more from them.

Besides, even if it doesn’t come as part and parcel of the Umbrella name, here at MiR Tactical we offer a gigantic, exhaustive list of parts, accessories, and attachments for airsoft guns. Are you looking for a part to make an upgrade or a repair to your AEG? Perhaps you’re looking for a new magazine or a holster for spare magazines, some BBs, or a new battery? You might even be looking for a new scope or some other optic like a reflex sight in order to improve your accuracy and competitive advantage. The point is, you can find it here, whatever you’re looking for, and you’ll get a great deal on it too. Shop through our collection of accessories and if you need help finding something to go with your new Umbrella companion, make sure you hit us up.
