Must-Have Airsoft Gun Parts, Attachments, and Accessories

Mar 9th 2021

Play airsoft long enough to get bitten by the hardcore bug, and sooner rather than later factory-gear just isn’t going to cut it for you anymore. You’ll be looking for ways to upgrade your airsoft guns and gear with parts, attachments, and accessories, and we don’t blame you. That’s exactly why we sell airsoft gun parts and the like - so you can make your gear work for you.

You might be surprised just how many upgrades you can make with relatively simple replacements, and we have the parts you need right here at MiR Tactical. We have the knowledge, too, so if you’re looking through this article wondering how to make use of these parts, just give us a call at 800-581-6620 and we’d be glad to fill you in!

1.Barrels and Barrel Covers: Many of the high-quality airsoft guns we sell here at MiR Tactical, including those from highly-sought after brands like KWA, Elite Force, Lancer Tactical, and JAG Arms, already come with metal barrels. You can probably understand why a metal barrel makes a huge difference in the quality of your overall build. However, if you find that your factory barrel produces groups that are all over the place, you might do better with a compatible barrel with a tighter inner diameter. We sell a variety of replacement barrels here for a number of popular models, for this very purpose.

On a similar, related note, adding a barrel cover to your airsoft gun may be a requirement on some courses or at some events, so it’s a nice little accessory to have on hand. It’s not really an airsoft gun part, but it’s an accessory that fits here, so we’re including it.

2.Trigger Upgrades: Not happy with the performance of your current airsoft gun’s trigger? Maybe you’re just looking for an airsoft trigger that puts a personal touch on your favorite airsoft pistol? We offer plenty of airsoft replacement triggers here that are made from high-quality materials, like solid aluminum. They’re basically indestructible and can be used to create a custom touch for your airsoft gun.

Additionally, some of these triggers are adjustable, so if you feel that the factory trigger on your favorite AEG or pistol is a little bit mushy, making an upgrade like this can make it feel like you’re shooting a brand new airsoft gun. That’s the kind of difference a custom trigger job or a trigger upgrade can make.

3.Replacement Metal Spring Guides: If your airsoft rifle, pistol, or shotgun has a plastic spring guide anywhere inside of it, it’s a good idea to replace it if you can. While the spring itself must be made of metal, the spring guides that house them can be made of plastic to save costs. While plastic spring guides are serviceable enough in the short term, in the long term stress can cause them to crack or shatter, which will render your airsoft gun inoperable. Also, broken pieces of plastic can get jammed inside your airsoft gun and cause damage to the gears and other internals. You can find our collection of spring guides at the link above; if you have additional questions, just call us!

4.Metal Bushings or Bearings: The bushings and bearings in the highest-quality airsoft guns are made of metal such as brass or steel, but some cheaper airsoft guns have plastic bushings that can deform, crack, melt or shatter under the influence of heat or stress. Since these bushings and bearings support and guide the gears in the gearbox, when they fail, the airsoft gun won’t work. Switching to an all-metal gearbox is one way to solve this problem, although, alternatively, you may be able to swap out the bearings or bushings individually with metal ones.

5.Metal Gears, Gearbox Shells, and Gearbox Upgrades: As a general rule of them, the internal workings of your airsoft gun should be made of solid metal, if at all possible. It is usually possible, which is exactly why the best airsoft guns have metal internals like metal gearboxes, with metal gears, metal shells, and metal bearings for smooth operation, even during periods of heavy fire.

Plastic bearings and bushings can deform or break; plastic gears are even worse. The gears in your gearbox will heat up with intense use, and it should come as no surprise that plastic gears will melt, shear, deform, crack, warp or break with heavy use. None of those things are good, which is why good airsoft guns come with gearboxes that are not only all-metal but also fully upgradeable. Here at MiR Tactical, we have metal gearboxes, gears, and even gearbox shells, so you can build a bombproof AEG.

6.Replacement Springs: There are too many parts of most airsoft guns that are actuated by springs, and not just in spring-operated airsoft guns. Electric and gas guns also have a large number of components that rely on springs to work properly. The more you use a spring, the more it gets fatigued. If one of your airsoft gun’s springs has fatigued or become stressed, you might notice diminished performance. Springs can also break from stress, in which case the gun or some aspect of it won’t work at all. Luckily, we carry a large collection of high-quality airsoft springs here on our website, so you can make repairs or upgrades if and when they become necessary.

7.High Torque and High-Speed Motors: When it comes to the specifics of electric airsoft guns like AEGs, there are two types of airsoft motors that get a lot of recognition. These are high-speed motors and high torque motors.

High-speed motors are faster and enable a higher rate of fire, but it comes at the expense of power, which means an AEG with a high-speed motor might lack the range of more powerful models. On the other end of the spectrum are high torque motors, which don’t allow the same rate of fire as high-speed motors, but provide higher power. They are extremely tough and dependable as well.

Whether you want to see greater power from your AEG or higher speed, we sell replacement and upgrade motors that you can work into the design of some of them. Although it isn’t quite intuitive how to do so, you can always call us for insight!

8.Other Internal Parts: In addition to these internal parts already listed, we also sell a number of other internal airsoft parts, including but not limited to buckings and hop up units so you can upgrade the accuracy of your airsoft gun, piston parts, trigger switches, and wiring accessories for you fans of AEGs. We also sell parts specifically designed for sniper rifles and airsoft pistols as well, so be sure to check out those collections, and as always, if you don’t see what you want listed, give us a call and let us know what you need to find.

9.Magazines: Magazines are not really a part in the sense of the other parts we’ve explored so far, but they can definitely be used to make an upgrade to your airsoft gun, in more ways than one. However, there are two big ways that a new (and a better) airsoft magazine can make a difference in the performance of your airsoft gun. One is that a new magazine with higher quality internals and springs will feed more reliably, and it will feed every last round. Some cheap mags don’t feed the final or the final few rounds. The other quick change you can make with a compatible magazine is that you can significantly extend the capacity of your rifle or pistol - all with no meaningful change to the airsoft gun itself.

10.Slings: Slings, like magazines, are more of an accessory than a part, but slings can also impact your comfort and performance, especially during a match. If you expect to be out for several days, carrying your airsoft rifle or shotgun via the aid of a sling will diminish your fatigue and free your hands up to perform additional tasks or carry other gear. Invest in a good sling and you’ll be surprised how much of an ability it will give you to carry additional gear - and cut down on fatigue during a match.

11.Batteries: Every AEG is compatible with a specific type or a specific set type of battery. There are a number of different airsoft batteries available, too, ranging from Li-poly to Li-Ion to Ni-Cad batteries and others as well. You’ll have to check the owner’s manual for your AEG to see what style of battery (nunchuck, brick, stick and others) as well as what type of battery and what voltage your airsoft gun requires. In some cases, you may be able to boost the performance of your airsoft rifle by upgrading to a new or to a different kind of battery.

12.Grips: It’s fairly obvious how a new set of grips or a new folding stock can improve your experience over the sights. For example, you can add a grip attachment to the forend handguard of your M4 style AEG for additional leverage and better control over the airsoft rifle. Sometimes, adding on a new grip is as easy as tightening down a few screws - which means you can alter your experience for the better, and easily. In addition to grips, we also offer a number of stocks in our collection of airsoft attachments, parts, and accessories.

13.Bipods: Any shooter who occupies a fixed position essentially needs a bipod for a stable shooting platform. Let’s face it, from time to time we’ve all used our backpacks, arms, and other random stuff as a shooting rest, but when you want to make accuracy matter in a match, a bipod comes in handy. Add a bipod to the front of your airsoft sniper rifle and you’ll be good to go. Actually, you can add a folding one to your AEG and you’ll be in just as good a spot. The extra weight may help to balance your rifle, and you’ll be more prepared for long-distance engagements with that setup.

14.Scopes, Optics, and Other Sights: Again, these are more of attachments than airsoft gun parts, because sights and optics aren’t really gun parts, to begin with. However, since you can easily upgrade the performance of your airsoft gun with them, they’re worth mentioning in this article. Scopes, red dot sights, laser sights, and other optics will all give you the edge you need when you’re engaging other combatants, and some more than others. A scope is relatively useless in CQB, as is a red dot sight over long distances. Analyze your niche and then choose the optics that work best for you.

15.Additional External Accessories: In addition to the accessories mentioned here, we also have other external airsoft accessories, including but not limited to some of the following. We carry airsoft receivers, rails, and handguards for mounting accessories and upgrading your builds. We also have rail mounts, outer barrels, and charging handles for giving your airsoft guns a custom look that can’t be easily bought. We also carry selector switches, sights, stocks, and even sling parts. In other words, if you’re looking for external airsoft gun parts, we have them.
