How an Airsoft AEG Fires and Why Players Choose One

Pulling the trigger spins the motor, which compresses a spring inside the gearbox and releases it to push a BB down the barrel. That electric system is far less affected by temperature than a gas gun and needs no gas refills. Most AEGs include both semi-auto and full-auto selector settings.

Airsoft M4, M16, and AK Rifle Platforms

M4 and M16 AEGs have the largest selection of upgrade parts, magazines, and rail accessories, which makes them a natural starting point. AK AEGs bring a different look and handling, and they use their own magazines and handguards. Pick the platform that matches the loadout you want to build.

Upgrading an Airsoft AEG for Range and Accuracy

The hop-up unit, inner barrel, and spring set the biggest share of range and accuracy, while the motor and gears decide rate of fire and durability. Browse airsoft internal parts for each upgrade, or ask about our airsoft tech repair and upgrade work to have it installed for you.

Airsoft AEG Questions for New Players

What do I need to start playing with an airsoft AEG?

You need a battery and a charger, BBs, eye protection, and a few magazines. Packages differ from gun to gun, so confirm what ships with the one you choose. Shop batteries, BBs, and airsoft eye protection to finish the kit.

What FPS limit do airsoft fields set for AEGs?

Fields commonly cap AEG rifles somewhere around 350 to 400 FPS with a .20 gram BB. Limits vary by field, so check yours before you tune or upgrade.

Is an airsoft AEG or a gas rifle better for a beginner?

Most beginners start with an AEG because the battery and BBs are the only consumables. Gas blowback rifles trade that simplicity for recoil and realism, and you can compare them on our airsoft gas rifles page or browse airsoft guns for beginners.

All of our AEGs are offered at the most competitive prices and we even offer flat rate shipping (some orders qualify for free shipping, call for details) as well as a price match guarantee! If you think you see a better price elsewhere, get in touch with us!

AEGs are available in both semi-automatic airsoft and fully-automatic airsoft configurations (many models feature selective-fire modes for both) and higher-end models offer high rates of fire, great power and FPS ratings, and durability.
