The Action Army AAP-01 is definitely one of the hottest gas blowback pistols on the market right now, and tips for upgrades and customizations abound.

Out of the box, the thing offers unbelievable RoF and is capable of both semi-auto and full-auto firing modes. Why you’d want it to be even faster than it is beyond us and verges on ridiculous, but we’re not here to argue.

We’re just here to offer good tips. If you want to customize your AAP-01 with upgrades that will make it handle and shoot faster, check these out.

1. GSS Action Army Short Stroke Kit

This is probably the most practical Action Army AAP-01 upgrade you can make if you want your AAP-01 to shoot faster. And the best part is it costs less than $15 to make.

This short stroke kit only does one thing but it does it well. It decreases the bolt travel distance which increases the rate of fire.

It’s also available in 1, 2, 3, and 4mm sizes to customize the travel distance of your AAP-01’s bolt.

2. AMG Cold Weather Hammer Spring

Cold weather can spell doom for the springs in your AAP-01 for two reasons. One, cheap springs get brittle and break (or just fatigue) more easily in the cold. Two, cold weather “shrinks” the springs, robbing them of power.

This AMG Cold Weather Hammer Spring for your AAP-01 is stronger and more durable, offering more reliable performance in adverse (cold) weather conditions.

3. Update the Magazine Fill Valve

A leaking green gas magazine can cripple a GBB pistol. It can actually entirely prevent the airsoft gun from firing. Even if it doesn’t, expect performance to suffer in a big way.

Not that there’s another wrong with the AAP-01’s stock fill valve, but you can definitely make it better. If you’re having problems with yours, consider replacing it was a replacement magazine fill valve to restore performance and enable faster speeds and improved overall performance.

4. Extended Mag Release

This Action Army AAP-01 upgrade won’t specifically make your airsoft pistol faster - itself - but it can improve the speeds with which you handle it.

Mag drops play a crucial role in speed and handling, specifically in the speed of reloads. The faster you can drop your mag, the faster you can reload.

There is another critical element here: the AAP-01, on full-auto, can burn through the mag it comes with in hardly a second (that’s not an exaggeration) so being able to reload quickly and effortlessly is critical.

An extended magazine release that is easier to engage can help you shave some time off your reloads, which in essence sort of is like making your airsoft pistol faster, even though it won’t actually improve the rate of fire.

5. CNC Charging Handle

This is another Action Army AAP-01 upgrade that will not make the airsoft gun actually shoot faster or improve rate of fire. But, just like an extended mag release, there is something important to consider here.

The faster you can charge the AAP-01 after loading a new mag, the faster you can blaze through it. And the Action Army AAP-01, despite its good ergs, is not really designed for speedy charging.

The bolt is a little slim, is what we mean. By installing one of the CNC charging handles or charging rings that we sell here at MiR Tactical, you can improve how quickly you can charge it.

Which is the perfect upgrade to make alongside an extended mag release.

6. CTM Speed Holster

Last but not least we have an airsoft accessory that, like our charging handles and extended mag releases, will not improve the speed of the airsoft gun at all, but can improve the speed with which you access and draw it.

Which, let’s be honest, is sort of the same thing. A CTM Speed Holster is great for that.

Made from rock-solid nylon, these speed holsters offer unparalleled access to the airsoft pistol by keeping the grip exposed. They also lock the trigger and guard in place, preventing negligent discharges.

So, even though they don’t actually make the airsoft gun shoot faster, they can make getting it into action faster. And that counts.
